Sony looking to develop its Spider-Man Movies

Sony had agreed to share rights to Spider-Man with Marvel. This is after its first two Spider-Man movies disappointed in 2012 and 2014. Since the partnership Sony has grown the franchise and its latest movies Spider-man: Far From Home was the highest-grossing movie with $1.1 billion. The movies surpassed James Bond’s movie, Skyfall.

Sony held the film rights for Spider-Man for quite some time now. Even though it is a Marvel comic property. Marvel’s president, Feige has been part of the success of creating a big-screen version of Spider-Man; that appeared on Sony solo films. It appears like Sony is building on the popularity of Spidey to develop its films like Morbius and Venom 2.

Despite MCU not holding rights for Spider-man, we could still see two new solo movies starring Holland and directed by Jon Watts from Sony. However, Marvel and Feige will not have any creative input on Spider-Man. The character will not appear in MCU films.
